Every photograph on York Adventures is the original work of Michael York and is protected by copyright. If you’d like to use an image — in a publication, on a website, in a marketing campaign, or as a print on your wall — we’re glad to license it. This page explains the options and how to request one.
All images are copyrighted
All photography on this site is © York Adventures / Michael York, all rights reserved. Public gallery images are watermarked, and reproducing, downloading, copying, or redistributing any image without a license is not permitted. A paid license — or a print purchase — grants you a specific, agreed-upon right to use the work. When you license an image, you receive a clean, high-resolution file without a watermark, delivered after purchase.
Personal vs. commercial use
The right license depends on how you intend to use the image:
- Personal use. Display in your home or a private, non-commercial setting. The simplest route is to order a print, which includes the right to enjoy the image personally.
- Editorial use. Use in news, blogs, articles, books, or educational contexts that are non-advertising in nature, with appropriate credit.
- Commercial use. Use in advertising, marketing, product packaging, websites, or any context that promotes a business or generates revenue. Commercial licenses are scoped to your specific usage, duration, and reach.
How to request a license
Email hello@yorkadventures.com with the following so we can prepare an accurate quote:
- The image(s) you want — a link or the title from the gallery is perfect.
- How you’ll use it — editorial, commercial, or personal.
- Where it will appear, the audience or print run, and the duration of use.
- Any size or file-format requirements and your deadline.
Turnaround
We typically respond to licensing enquiries within 2–3 business days with a quote and terms. Once a license is agreed and payment is received, the high-resolution file is delivered promptly — usually the same or next business day. Print orders follow our Shipping & Returns timelines.
Prints for personal use
If you simply want the photograph on your wall, you don’t need a custom license — browse the gallery and order a museum-quality print made to order. For anything beyond personal display, reach out about a license.
