Xcaret in November: Sound of Xcaret, Weather, and Best Deals

November at Xcaret is the goldilocks month. The hurricane season tail has passed, the dry season is back, the humidity is low, and the prices haven't yet climbed to December peak. There's also the Sound of Xcaret music festival, which is one of the best weeks of the year if music is your thing. I've done two November trips and it's tied with May for my favorite month at this property.

November weather

Daytime highs 78 to 85 Fahrenheit. Overnight lows around 71. Roughly 3 inches of rain across the month — back to dry-season levels. Humidity dropping. Water temperature 81 to 82 degrees.

November weather is essentially identical to early December and late February. Clear skies are the norm rather than the exception, the air is comfortable for walking-tour days, and the evenings cool down enough for one nice layer.

Crowds and the calendar

November runs in three distinct waves:

• First week of November — Festival of Life and Death tail (festival typically ends Nov 2-3). Crowded for first 2-3 days, then drops.
• Mid-November — quietest November stretch. Pre-Thanksgiving lull. Strong value window.
• Sound of Xcaret weekend — variable date, typically mid-to-late November. Music-festival pricing.
• Thanksgiving week — US tourism bump, Wednesday through Sunday after Thanksgiving.
• Last week of November — building toward December peak.

If you want Sound of Xcaret, book early — the festival sells separately and the resort fills around it. If you want the quiet value window, target the second week of November.

Pricing tier

Mid-tier rates throughout, with two premium spikes for the music festival weekend and Thanksgiving week. Mid-November weekday rates are some of the best dollar-for-quality in the year.

Major events in November

Sound of Xcaret (Sonoro) is the big one — multi-day Mexican music festival, 30+ artists across multiple stages on the property and inside Xcaret park. Musicians range from regional Mexican to indie, electronic, and international. It's a real festival, not background music. Specific dates vary year to year.

What to wear in November

Lighter pack than the heaviest summer months — humidity is low — but a real evening layer is essential. The November breeze off the water gets cool after sunset and the rooftop bars genuinely chill down.

For the music festival, casual concert-friendly outfits and walking shoes. Nothing super dressy required.

Best parks for November

November is when every park works.

• Xcaret park — comfortable for full days. Both daytime walking and the evening show work.
• Xenotes — perfect November temperatures.
• Xel-Há — great for relaxed days.

This is the best month of the year for ambitious itineraries — you can actually do the parks at full intensity without the heat tax.

Photography conditions

November light is excellent. Dry-season clarity is back, the angle of the sun is forgiving, the early morning haze of summer is gone. Sunrise around 6:35 AM, sunset around 5:35 PM. Short days, but quality light at both ends.

Pricing strategy

The four November trips:

• Music festival trip — book the Sound of Xcaret weekend, accept the premium, get festival tickets.
• Quiet-value trip — book the second week of November. Best value pocket of the month.
• Thanksgiving family trip — book early; popular with US families.
• Standard trip — third week, around November 15-22, if not festival weekend. Same weather, better price than late month.

For room category, November is comfortable enough that the lower-tier rooms work fine — no need to splurge for a premium-floor suite for cooling reasons.

What I'd do differently

My first November trip was Sound of Xcaret weekend and I underestimated how much the festival would dominate the trip. I'd planned a couples trip and ended up at a multi-day music festival. It was great, but it wasn't what I'd booked for.

The second November trip I shifted to the second week — quiet, beautiful weather, best dinner reservations of any trip I've done at this property — and that's the version I'd recommend to anyone who isn't specifically going for the festival.

November is the answer for "I want one perfect Riviera Maya week per year and I want it to feel quiet and easy." Mid-November weekday arrival, four to five nights, pool-and-park-and-spa pacing.
